The years of childhood fly by for many children who live
in the slums and villages of India. They work alongside
their parents or caretakers but never get an opportunity
to attend school for a proper education. This means they
are not taught English which only results in greater
difficulties in the future.
India has over 300 million children, many of which are
in this situation. Education is vital for the employment
and social prospects of these children. REAP, in
partnership with Bible Society NSW; provide a basic
educational program in reading, writing and speaking
English. With this education and developed social
skills, their outlook for the future is very bright.
REAP Literacy program started in 5 slums in Hyderabad in
February 2007 but gradually new centres were added. The
demand for a proper education for these children has
increase.

With your help, even more children can now look forward
to a brighter future. As the knowledge of English helps
a child gain advantage while taking up higher studies
and also creates better employment opportunities.
REAP's vision is to reach 1 million children through literacy program
Adult education
REAP provides basic education to adults who never had a chance to go to school. Eg; thus leads people to gain proper wages for their labour, able to travel within their states and gain better employment and social life. It creates desire and values in parents to educate their children.
